Take a journey into my autobiographical story, where I share details from the most difficult part of my life. God used a series of events to completely change my relationship with Him. This is a tale of faith, power, failure, and triumph! I promised God that if He got me through this difficult season that I would write the story down in a book to give Him the Glory! This book is that promise kept.
I sincerely hope that by reading my story, you will gain inspiration and hope for your own journey with God! Even though this was a very difficult process for myself and my family, I am very thankful for the experience and the person that I became as a result.
Please enjoy a sample of Chapter 1 from the book:
It was just a random day, but I definitely remember at some point my wife saying “umm, I’m pregnant…” Now I don’t care what you are in the middle of, a statement like that will stop you cold in your tracks so you can take some time to process. I remember being more surprised than anything as we had already discussed having another child, but now this was actually becoming a reality. Regardless though, our family was growing and we both thought this was wonderful news indeed!
As you can imagine all of the well wishes and extended family excitement kept pouring in, but something still wasn’t quite right. I knew it wasn’t our marriage or our current child that was causing it, but something was making my wife absolutely miserable day in and day out. After some trial, error, and listening I realized that her job was the source of most of her discontent. Naturally I initially suggested that she try to find some other departments within the company to change things up a bit. Little did I know that she was done, and I mean DONE with this place. In her mind she was already moving on to other things.
Something else that I had missed was she was also unhappy with the city we were living in. In her defense I’ll admit that to come from the area she was from to there was indeed a downgrade in terms of available entertainment, shopping, and restaurants. The solution to this problem was not going to be just a new job, but also a new city, a new house, and a full reset for our family. She had a whole plan in her head of what she ultimately wanted, and she had also been praying about it.
At this time in my life, I was still in the infancy of my Christian walk and honestly, I did not know God nearly as well as I do now. God heard her earnest prayers though, and He was about to answer her with a resounding yes to everything that she was asking for across the board. She tried to tell me that God had put it in her spirit that it was time for us to relocate, but I wasn’t trying to hear it. I was already pretty satisfied with my job and being close to my friends and family. Not to mention, God hadn’t said anything to me about this so surely she had to be mistaken right? Boy was I wrong! Looking back now I can see that God was going to use this experience to jump start our relationship and teach me how to trust Him. I truly had no idea how difficult my life was about to become in order to get to the blessings that He had in store for us at the end of this trial. You see even though God has plans for us, we are rarely ready to execute His plans when He wants to initiate them in our lives. We constantly build our lives around the things and ideas of our surroundings, sometimes failing to realize just how trapped we have become by them. As a result, when God is now ready to move us to the next level, He often must first break our lives completely apart to shake us free from the trappings we have become so dependent on.
